In 1986, teacher and mother Judi Paul created Accelerated Reader to motivate her children to read over the summer months. From that modest beginning, Renaissance has grown to become a global leader in education technology, launching in the UK in 1999. Millions of books are read each year, and online assessments are completed by tens of thousands of schools worldwide using Renaissance solutions. Yet from the beginning and throughout its subsequent global expansion, it has always kept student needs at the centre of every decision. This practical, classroom-first approach remains central to how we work today. Â
GL Education, a Renaissance company since 2023, has helped teachers assess students’ learning challenges, identify and support children with additional educational needs, and provide schools with evidence of progress for over 40 years.
