Overall, the most popular authors’ list has not changed much (see Table 15). The top eight authors are exactly the same: Kinney, Dahl, Walliams, Donaldson, Rowling, Oseman, Hunt and Simon. However, all have lower read counts except for Donaldson. Michael Morpurgo is new to the list at number nine. Suzanne Collins remains at ten.
The Primary table of Most Popular Authors (see Table 16) contains the same top two authors as last year (Kinney, Dahl). After this, Donaldson has moved up and pushed Walliams down a place. After this come J.K. Rowling and Roderick Hunt (Rowling moving up), with Francis Simon moving down. The three new entrants in places seven, nine and ten are: Dav Pilkey, Andy Griffiths and Jill Murphy, in that order.
The Secondary table of Most Popular Authors (see Table 17) has the same top four authors in the same order as the previous year: Kinney, Rowling, Walliams and Oseman (but the number of reads declined in every case). After this comes Suzanne Collins, moving up with a greater number of reads. Then come new entrants: Louis Sachar, Holly Jackson and Rick Riordan in places six, seven and ten. Palacio and Orwell complete the list with a reduced number of reads.
